 | | | | | | Visual Arts Education | | The goal of the art department is to explore self expression, improve observation skills, and develop creative problem solving skills through the visual arts. The students will learn to communicate their ideas through the use of a visual language known as the elements of art and the principles of design. The students will practice a variety of artistic media areas. The students will evaluate their artwork through discussion and the creation of written artist statements.
The Visual Arts Education department is made up of three staff members, Arlene Sobiech, Jason McIntyre (department head), and John Hallman.
The classes offered during the 2007-2008 school year are Introduction to Visual Arts, Cultural Art Exploration, Mixed Media, Video Production, and Advanced Photography.
Curriculum Alignment The Introduction to Visual Arts class follows the district curriculum. The class was designed by the current staff members of the art department. Each teacher has autonomy on specific assignments, but the core concepts of class remain constant.
